Murder charges in Bassano homicide dropped following preliminary hearing
Medicine Hat, AB – In a rare move, second-degree murder charges in connection with the homicide of a Medicine Hat native’s 24-year-old wife were dropped last week following a four-day preliminary hearing.
June Rose was found dead in the Bassano residence the pair shared in January 2019 with police at the time ruling the death a homicide.
Rose’s partner, 37-year-old Medicine Hat-native Chase Leland Hehr was charged with second-degree murder on Jan. 25, 2019 in connection with the woman’s death.
The couple had moved to Bassano in November 2018 and, according to Rose’s Facebook posts, were married sometime in 2017.
