Library closed due to water damage

Redcliff, AB – A sudden closure of the Redcliff Public Library was caused by a leaky window, according to a town councillor who sits on the board of the library.

The library was closed suddenly on Saturday with notices posted on the building that it would be closed due to unforeseen circumstances with no notice as to when it would reopen.

Coun. Jim Steinke says renovations at the facility uncovered some possible structural damage due to water damage.

β€œThe company came here to replace the window, pulled the old window out and realized there was structural damage due to water coming in and the wood being rotten,β€œ said Steinke.

Contractors were onsite Monday with Steinke saying he expects the library to be reopened by Wednesday.
