Medicine Hat, AB – The gates are open at the Canalta Centre’s Cars and Guitars with a blinding array of chrome-laden, Detroit steel made cars, station wagons, vans and trucks on display looking to wow automotive fans and judges alike.

Kyle Beauchesne, President of Cypress Rod and Custom, says there is no shortage of vareity at one of the city’s largest classic car showcases. From Studebakers, Dodges, Fords, Hondas and Pontiacs – to name a few – the only limit enthusiasts have to soup up their vehicles is, “as far as the imagination will take you,” said Beauchesne.

While the range of vehicles on display cross generations, Beauchesne said there is something special about the 50s to 70s era, “because they have nicer lines and chrome.”

But that’s not to say modern technology can’t be utilized in older cars with Beauchesne adding a trend in auto shows is upgrading older cars with computers and even electric engines.

“It’s just a matter of money and time,” when it comes to what you can do with a car, said Beauchesne.

The classic car show runs until 4 p.m. today with gates to the evening concert opening at 7 p.m.
