WINNIPEG, MB, — RCMP in Manitoba say they have found two bodies believed to be two suspects from British Columbia.

In a news conference Wednesday afternoon, RCMP say the two bodies were found at approximately 10 a.m. in dense brush near the shoreline of the Nelson River.

Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, from Port Alberni, B.C., were facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of a Vancouver man.

They were also suspects in the shooting deaths of an American woman and her Australian boyfriend.

A Canada-wide manhunt for McLeod and Schmegelsky had been ongoing since July 23. The search had primarily focused in the area of Gillam, Manitoba.

Autopsies have been scheduled to confirm the identities of the two bodies and determine the cause of death.

On Tuesday, RCMP say they found several items linked to the suspects near the river. The bodies were found within one kilometre of the discovered items, and within eight kilometres from where a burnt vehicle was discovered near Gillam.
