First inning:

The Dawgs scored three in the first inning off three separate swings. After Jaxon Valcke batted in Davis Todosichuk, he crossed over home plate off Shay Shanaman’s single. William Hollis was next at the plate, and scored Riley Baasch with a single.

Third inning:

Riley Baasch scored his second run of the contest off William Hollis’ second hit, however the Mavericks executed a swift 7-2-4 double-play to end the inning.

Fifth inning:

Medicine Hat dug into the deficit after PJ Garcia hit a line-drive down the middle to bring in Tito Jones from third. Garcia was beaten by the throw to first — the Mavericks second out of the inning.

Sixth inning:

Dawgs starting pitcher Nolan Ruff continues to be a thorn for the Mavericks. Although he’s allowed seven hits through six innings, Medicine Hat has only capitalized once, serving as a huge reason for Okotoks’ 4-1 lead.

Seventh inning:

The Mavericks are first to bring out the cane, yanking Jaymon Cervantes after 6.2 innings and installing Liam Rosebeck.

On Rosebeck’s first throw, Riley Baasch clocked a deep shot into the left corner to score Jaxon Valcke all the way from first. Jacob Melton then approached the plate and struck an RBI-double to score Valcke and extended the Dawgs lead to 6-1.

Medicine Hat responded following the seventh-inning stretch. After Austin Sojka chopped a line-drive to left field to put runners on the corners, PJ Garcia sent a high shot into center-right to score Freddy Walker.

Following Walker’s run, the Dawgs pitching staff cooled off drastically. Nolan Ruff was relieved by Andrew Yates, who proceeded to walk Taylor Wright. Not taking any further chances, the Dawgs elected to take Yates out of the game and put in Brandon Desjardins.

Desjardins hit Sal Rodriguez on just his second pitch with the bases loaded, allowing Austin Sojka to walk over home. Moments later, Desjardins walked Nolan Rattai to allow Garcia to score, cutting the deficit to 6-4.

Two batters later, Collin Klingensmith mashed a line-drive up the gut to score a pair more, tying the game for the first time since the beginning of the match.

Desjardins night ended following the game-tying run, walking two out of five batters and allowing two earned runs. Brendan Logan took over the mound.

Walker, who began the scoring parade for the Mavs, then batted in Rattai with a single to give the Mavericks their first lead at 7-6.

Ninth inning:

With their backs against the wall, the Okotoks Dawgs found a way to keep their victory hopes alive. Jaxon Valcke hit a sac-fly to left field to score Davis Todosichuk, squaring up the contest 7-7.

Bryce Libke took the mound over from Austin Oulds, who entered in the ninth, and struck out back-to-back batters to end the top half.

The Okotoks Dawgs stranded one Mavericks batter in the bottom half to force extra innings.

Tenth inning:

Bryce Libke picked up in the first extra inning right where he left off in the ninth. The Saskatoon-product struck out three more to keep the Dawgs off the board, totalling five over 1.2 innings.

Galen Manhard duplicated Libke’s performance with three strikeouts to force an 11th inning.

11th inning:

After holding the Dawgs off the board for a second straight extra inning, Medicine Hat put themselves in prime position for a walk-off. Colton Wright reached second base on a deep hit to center-right field, an Collin Klingensmith followed up with a double of his own. But with Wright and Klingensmith in scoring position, Manhard escaped by striking out his next batter and forcing a ground-out to end the inning.

12th inning:

Medicine Hat escaped the top half with a steely double-play with the bases loaded. Nolan Rattai blocked off a grounder from Jaxon Valcke, and passed off to PJ Garcia on second, who gunned a bullet to Sal Rodriguez to send it to the bottom half.
