Environment Canada says conditions favourable for funnel clouds in southern Alberta

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Environment Canada says weather conditions are favourable for the possibility of funnel clouds developing in southern Alberta.
Advisories have been issued for Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and surrounding areas Tuesday morning.
Environment Canada says these types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. The weak rotation is not normally a danger near the ground, but the agency says there is a chance to rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.
Environment Canada is asking residents remain vigilant and monitor alerts and forecasts by Environment Canada.
