INTERVIEW: Mohawks head coach Skelton named to Alberta U17 staff

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat High Mohawks head coach Quinn Skelton has earned a chance to expand his coaching to some of the province’s best young football players.

This week, Skelton was named by Football Alberta as one of the coaches that will be heading up the provincial U17 program.

Skelton will serve as the U17 defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, and will be joining the team on their annual trip to Hawaii for the Pacific Challenge in August of 2019.

This won’t be Skelton’s first time heading to Maui, as he has been involved with the U19 and U17 programs before with Football Alberta.

Skelton said he’s looking forward to focusing on the defensive side of the field and getting to know some of Alberta’s best linebackers.

“This position allows me to have some fun, go back call plays on defence, and work with the linebacker group as well,” said Skelton. “I really enjoy doing that, it’s my opportunity to get back to the roots.”

Getting ready for his three-year term with the U17 program, Skelton was able to catch up with CHAT Sports at Medicine Hat High School on Saturday.
