Medicine Hat man charged with alleged sexual assault of 13-year-old girl

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Police received a complaint on January 18 of an alleged sexual assault that took place on a city bus. The 13-year-old victim alleges she was fondled and had sexual remarks directed at her by the man.

Following an investigation, Tyler Stannard of Medicine Hat has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

The two were not known to each other, police say.

Stannard was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released on multiple conditions. His next court appearance is February 14.
