NASA providing live stream of solar eclipse

Aug 21, 2017 | 10:14 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A cosmic event that hasn’t been seen in North America for almost a century is taking over the skies today.

A total solar eclipse will travel across much of North America this morning. While the United States will be able to see the total eclipse, most of Canada will get a partial view of the event.

In Medicine Hat, the eclipse will become visible at 10:30 a.m., and it will be 80 per cent visible by 11:30 a.m.

For those who are unable to step away from their desks for a brief moment to view the event, or if you were unable to purchase eclipse glasses or welder’s glass to safely view the event, you can still watch the event online.

NASA is providing a live-stream as the eclipse makes its way across the United States.

The live-stream will show the eclipse through 11 spacecraft, several NASA aircraft, more than 50 high-altitude balloons, and the astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
