The CIBC branch in Crescent Heights will be changing its look in June.

According to statements supplied by the bank, the Crescent Heights branch has been chosen for renovation in order to meet “changing client needs and habits”.

The branch will close on June 1, and is set to re-open on June 19. The bank indicated that the aim of the renovations is to transform the current banking centre into a modern, “advice-based” centre, which will offer new technological options, as well as “encourage conversations and advice.”

The main change being made will be the removal of traditional teller wickets. Areas with tablets, computers, and mobile phones will be added instead. CIBC also said the branch’s lineup will no longer be used, with greeters approaching each client instead.

“We will greet them the moment they walk in and find out how we might be able to help them,” read the statement from the bank.

“Whether they have come for an advice conversation or to make a routine transaction such as pay a bill or make a deposit our staff is happy to help them. How they do their banking may look and feel different, but we are always available to help.”

The branch will also aim to assist clients who are still learning to use new ways of banking, such as online services.

“We know that some clients prefer to come into the banking centre, even for their routine banking needs and we will continue to be there to help our clients with their banking,” read the statement.

The Crescent Heights branch is the only CIBC location in the city planned to be renovated.

CIBC has said the current six full time employees at the bank will retain their positions, while two part-time positions will be eliminated.
