Investigation underway into police shooting in Edmonton
EDMONTON – An investigation is underway after Edmonton police shot a man who was allegedly pointing a firearm at an intersection.
Darren Derko, acting Deputy Chief, says at least seven 911 calls were received about the man, with one called reporting they saw the man loading a weapon at the intersection of 137 Avenue and 50 Street.
Derko says when two officers arrived at the scene, they saw him pointing what appeared to be a firearm at people. Derko says when two officers arrived at the scene, the man pointed the gun at them.
One of the officers shot the man, and he’s been taken to hospital. Derko says the extent of the man’s injuries is unknown.
