Tigers fall 5-2 in Lethbridge, congest wild card race
LETHBRIDGE, AB — Taylor Ross and Dylan Cozens scored just 70 seconds apart to open the third period, propelling the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a 5-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers at the ENMAX Centre on Friday night.
The Tigers remain in the WHL’s Eastern Conference first wild-card position. However, they’re now tied with Red Deer after the Rebels scored five unanswered goals to defeat Brandon 5-3.
Lethbridge and Edmonton continue to sit tied atop the Central Division. The Oil Kings beat Calgary, who remain firmly in third place, 5-1.
Tied at 2-2 entering the final 20 minutes of play, Ross capitalized on a ‘Canes powerplay at 2:06. That served as the game-winner, with Cozens following up with the insurance marker at 3:16.
