Bandits outlast rival Oilers in wild pre-season tilt
BROOKS, AB – A wild finish to a wild game at Centennial Regional Arena on Saturday night, as the Brooks Bandits kept their undefeated pre-season record alive against the Okotoks Oilers.
Jakob Lee had a pair of goals for the Bandits, while Landon Quinney served up some late-game heroics to give Brooks a 6-5 win in a back-and-forth affair.
Okotoks went up 1-0 early after a puck took an odd hop off the stanchion onto the stick of Barrett Sheen, who went short side on Max Wright to open the scoring.
Just a few minutes later, a shot from Sheen in the slot was stopped by Wright but he couldn’t handle the rebound, which was picked up by Blake Wells to make it a 2-0 game less than eight minutes in.
