Hurricanes, Broncos make blockbuster trade
LETHBRIDGE, AB — The Lethbridge Hurricanes and Swift Current Broncos announced a major trade Tuesday morning with the deadline for the WHL Trade Deadline looming.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes will receive forwards Logan Barlage and Owen Blocker, defenceman Matthew Stanley and goaltender Logan Flodell, in addition to a first-round draft pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, a third-round pick in 2020 and a conditional second-round draft pick in 2021.
In exchange, the Broncos received Hurricanes captain Giorgio Estephan, goaltender Stuart Skinner and assistant captain Tanner Nagel.
Barlage, 16, was drafted by the Broncos in 2016, and scores one goal and notched six assists in 37 games this season. The 6’4”, 201-pound forward collected 76 points (37g-39a) in 44 games last season for the Prince Albert Mintos in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.
