Stay of proceedings granted for Wendy Scott
MEDICINE HAT, AB — A justice in Medicine Hat has granted a stay of proceedings against a woman facing a retrial in connection with a 2011 homicide.
Wendy Scott, who was charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the death of Casey Armstrong in 2011, was granted the stay of proceedings on Friday in the Medicine Hat Court of Queen’s Bench.
Scott, along with Connie Oakes, were accused in the death of Armstrong, who was found dead in his trailer in May 2011.
Scott was granted a new trial in October 2015 by the Alberta Court of Appeal after the Crown in her case conceded an error led to her initial conviction.
