Stan C.L. Witty
January 4, 1954 ~ August 5, 2021
Stan Charles Laverne Witty passed away at home in Medicine Hat on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the age of 67 years. He was born in Canmore, AB., on Monday, January 4, 1954, to Jean Mitchel and Manley ‘Bud’ Witty. Stan was a self-proclaimed “Jack of all Trades, Master of None” which included but not limited to mechanic, carpenter and all around handyman. He would always say he could rebuild a ‘57 Buick, but give him modern tech and he’d need IT support from his daughter, Jenn. Stan was a lover of nature, animals and the outdoors. You would often find him out fishing whenever he had the opportunity. This was instilled in him through his love and belief in the Cree Nation. Stan enjoyed working on projects, many of which involved carpentry projects. One of his specialties was whittling or carving art from any piece of wood he could find. Stan was an avid Edmonton Oilers and Blue Jays fan. He would seldom miss an opportunity to watch a game and cheer them on. Stan would often tell stories of his tarantula named Barney and his dog named Ugly. He would tell his family tales of Barney running free in the house catching bugs to eat. Stan loved his dogs, cats and enjoyed the company of his two daughters’ pet lizards. Stan will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of his two daughters, Jenn (Shannon) Hodder, Kristen (Mike) Morishita; stepson, Shane Rose; longtime friend, Mavis Deans; two sisters, Robyn and Sylvia as well as numerous nieces and nephews and grand- children. Stan was predeceased by his parents; brothers, James Chamberlain, Keith Witty and Clayton Chamberlain. The family will honour Stan’s life with a private celebration at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Stan’s name may be made directly to the SPCA, 55 Southwest Drive S.W., Medicine Hat, AB., T1A 8E8. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, Crematorium and Reception Facility.
