Sherri Lyn Kay-Metz passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the age of 56 years, beloved wife of Alexander Metz of Richmound, Saskatchewan. Sherri Lyn Kay was born in Maple Creek on Mother’s Day of 1967 to Don and Cheryl Kay. She grew up on the family ranch and rode the school bus to Maple Creek with her brother Harvey and sister Val. Growing up, Sherri spent many joyful hours in the summer picking berries with her grandmother and enjoyed figure skating in the winter. On March 6, 1985, her son Damien was born, who brought her immense joy in every aspect of her life.
Sherri is known for her bright outlook on life, which is brought to her by numerous hobbies that she enjoys. From frequent shopping trips to travelling many destinations, Sherri was continuously inspiring herself and fulfilling her passions. Since Sherri was a child, she always had a creative talent that led her through scrapbooking, decorative furniture, and painting. Yoga and meditation enriched her daily life to the absolute fullest.
In July of 2018, Sherri married the love of her life, Alex. Sherri and Alex lived on their farm in Richmound, Saskatchewan and enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and growing a garden full of vegetables every summer.
Sherri started her fight with cancer in May of 2013. Throughout this time, Sherri maintained her fierce optimism and continued pursuing her many passions with those that she loved. Her pain ended on August 5, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat.
Sherri is survived by her husband Alexander Metz, mother Cheryl Kay, children Damien Ternes; Jena (Ian) Andreas; Alyssa (Kyle) Halmrast; Jay Metz; her brother Harvey (Shelly) Kay, and sister Val (Leon) Martineau; nieces Darian (her son Kaide), Rachel, Karmyn and Jacey. She was predeceased by her father Don Kay.
The funeral service will be held at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating.
