Roy Thomas Bartlett

Mr. Roy Thomas Bartlett, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Sharon Bartlett, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the age of 78 years. Left to cherish Roy’s memory is his devoted daughter, Kelly (Karl) Sivertsen; grandson, Brant Sivertsen and granddaughter, Kaysha (Brad) Jetter. He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon as well as two sons, Rudy and Jody. Roy married Sharon Gonda on March 31, 1964. They started their married life together in Brownfield and moved to Medicine Hat in 1968. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Rudy, Kelly and Jody. Most of Roy’s working career was with Medicine Hat Greenhouse where he started as a labourer and was later promoted to management due to his exceptional work ethic. He managed the greenhouse until its closure before accepting employment with Hat Hardware where he worked until retirement. Roy enjoyed many things in life, some of which included travelling, baking and cooking; and of course everyone knows Roy LOVED shopping! He excelled at gardening and was more than happy to share the produce. His favourite thing to do was share dinner and play games at his daughter’s house with the family and friends who loved him. Roy was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends who loved him. A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Due to restrictions in place from the Chief Medical Officer of Health regarding COVID – 19, funeral services are now limited to no more than 100 attendees. Roy’s service will be live streamed through the Cook Southland website.
