Rick Bene

1959 ~ 2021

Richard Lyle Bene, beloved husband of Marianne, passed away in Redcliff on Monday, July 26, 2021, at the age of 61 years. Along with Marianne, Rick will forever be remembered by his daughters, Tonia (Soren) Hansen and Michelle Bene (Scott Lewry); grandchildren, Richard, David, Wynter, Brayden, Ethan, Lucas, Cohen and Averie; mother, Sharon Bene; siblings, Carrie (Pat) Kinahan, Todd (Marnee) Bene and Tamie Bene as well as Marianne’s family: parents, Ludwig and Collene Schwarz; siblings, Ron (Laurie) Schwarz and Norm Schwarz as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Rick was born in Lethbridge on November 26, 1959. Some of his childhood was also spent in the Skiff and Milk River areas of Southern Alberta. Rick spent his career working in the tire industry taking him to cities within southern Alberta and the BC interior, although for the majority of his career he lived in Calgary. Before retiring to Medicine Hat, Rick drove school bus and helped Marianne with her Dayhome, so he had many, many extended “grandkids” who called him Papa in Calgary as well. He had many interests including drag racing, camping, dirt biking, watching Nascar and water skiing/boating. Rick will be remembered for his love of his family, especially for how much time he spent with the grandkids. He was the life of the party and will be missed! The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Murray Jaster officiating.
