Phillip Mellafont
1971 ~ 2020
Mr. Phillip John Mellafont, beloved husband of Amanda, passed away suddenly in Medicine Hat on Monday, May 18, 2020, at the age of 48 years. Along with Amanda, left to cherish Phillip’s memory are his children, Jordan and Melodie; parents, Richard Mellafont and Judie (Bob) Riehl; siblings, Leonard, Dannette, Ginger and Brad; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his beloved dogs and best friends, Zeus and Shiloh who meant the world to Phillip. He was predeceased by his sister, Rhonda as well as his dog, Missy. Phillip was born on September 7, 1971, in Milk River. He grew up playing football and basketball until a serious injury at the age of 25 left him with chronic pain, forever altering his life’s course. Phillip liked doing mechanical work and welding but his favourite pastime was fishing. You could often find Phillip travelling around on his mobility scooter. He was a big kid at heart and loved playing with kids toys… his most recent purchase was a kids bow and arrow that made sounds when you shot it. Phillip was very patriotic and was proud of his Alberta and Canadian heritage. He had a quick tongue… some would call him a smartass. Comedy was his calling as he had a comment for everything. Philip adored Amanda and cherished their time spent together; they were two peas in a pod who complimented each other. He will be missed! A celebration of Phillip’s life will be held at later date.
