It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Norman “Norm” Allan Traxel, who left this world on December 23, 2024, at the age of 80 years. Born on May 9, 1944, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Norm lived a life filled with love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. Raised on a farm in Seven Persons, Alberta, Norm developed a strong work ethic that defined his life. He became known as the “John Deere man,” a title that reflected his profession and his passion for farming. As a devoted husband and family man, Norm took great pride in his work and was fiercely proud of his two sons, Stacey and Kevin Traxel. Norm married the love of his life, Jerolyn, on November 4, 1967, and together they built a life filled with joy and warmth. Norm’s love for his family extends beyond his immediate household; he is also survived by his brother, Keith (Cindy) Traxel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Norm was born into a close-knit family and was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Adelia Traxel; his brother, Gordon Traxel; and his sisters, Shirley Lipsack and Darlene Kemp. Throughout his life, Norm embraced a spirit of community. He was a hard-working farmer whose contributions to the land were paralleled by his commitment to his faith, which was evident in his support of St. Peter Lutheran Church. His life reflected his values, and he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A funeral service honoring Norm’s life will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 – 8th Street Se, Medicine Hat, AB on Friday, January 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
