Muriel Louise Rogers of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Rogers, passed away on Friday, January 13th, 2017 at the age of 91 years. Muriel leaves to cherish her memory her twin sister, Margaret Hobbs of Medicine Hat; two nieces, Kathryn (Kevin) Friesen of Medicine Hat and Sharon (Ron) Henschel of Red Deer; three nephews, Harold (Sharon) Millie of Regina, Richard (Judi) Millie of Edmonton and David (Carole) Millie of Sceptre, Saskatchewan and extended family. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Bill; and her parents, Dougall and Ida Hunter. Muriel was born on September 20th, 1925 on the farm at Climax, Saskatchewan. In 1948 she began her teaching career, retiring in 1980. Throughout her life, Muriel was an avid volunteer with numerous organizations. She was given the Medicine Hat Humanitarian award in 2004. Muriel enjoyed gardening, bridge and the company of her dear friends and family who will miss her greatly. The Funeral Service will be held at FIFTH AVENUE MEMORIAL UNITED CHURCH, 476 – 4th Street SE, on Friday, January 20th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend David Pollard officiating. Interment will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Muriel’s memory may be made to the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre, c/o the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation, 666 – 5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4H6 or to a charity of one’s choice.
