Mary Volk

Mary Volk (nee Mardian) passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the age of 90 years.
Mary was born on February 5, 1931 in the Fox Valley area of Saskatchewan, and was raised on the family farm near Prelate, Saskatchewan. She moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta with her family and worked at Medalta Potteries before marrying Joe Volk in 1952. In 1958, Mary and Joe moved to Rolling Hills to farm. In 1990, Mary and Joe retired back to Medicine Hat. Mary is lovingly remembered by her son, Marvin (Brenda) Volk, and her daughters, Marlene (Ken) Robinson and Diane Volk (Brian Maccan). Mary also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Mark (Kelly) Volk, Candace (Shawn) Robins, Robyn Volk, Cole (Melanie) Robinson and Blake Robinson; her great-grandchildren, Hayley Volk, Cade Knight, Grace Volk, Zoey Volk, Micah Robinson, Ben Volk, Alexis Robinson, Noah Robinson and Merrick Robins; her sisters, Regina Materi and Anne Schlosser; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe Volk; her parents, Anton and Rose Mardian; and nine other siblings . The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Home and Home Care for their care of our Mother. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A private family funeral service will take place at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 6, 2021 with Fr. Iqbal Khurshid, Celebrant.
