Mr. Mark Bloomquist passed away in Medicine Hat on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the age of 61 years. Mark was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan on June 17, 1960. This is also where he was raised and graduated from the Assiniboia Composite High School. He had many skills and worked as a mechanic, in autobody and various companies in the oil and gas industry. Mark was known for his hard work ethic and humorous nature as he was always pulling pranks! He was an avid Roughriders fan and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with the grandkids. On June 19, 2010, he married Cheryl Hawkins and recently celebrated their 11th anniversary. Mark will be remembered by his wife, Cheryl; children, Khrystyna Funk, Brandy Bridges, Jay McDonald (Joanna), Naquita Bloomquist (Mac), Sheila Hawkins (Curtis) and Travis Hawkins; grandchildren, Lily, Keaton, Emma, Ashton, Claire, Tyson, Kaiden and Hunter; siblings: Wanda Rust, Wendy Tendler, Brenda Williams, Shelly Oxelgren, Scot Bloomquist; brothers-in-law, Kelvin Hawkins, Glen Hawkins, Curtis Hawkins, Jerry Tendler, Larry Oxelgren, Blaine Hobbs and Bart Walters; sisters-in-law, Laurie Hawkins, Darlene Walters and Eunice Hawkins; mother-in-law, Marlene Hawkins and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd Bloomquist and Faye Day; brother, Kenneth; father-in-law, Norman Hawkins and brothers-in-law, Meryl Rust and Jim Williams. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street SW, Medicine Hat on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Lynett Getz officiating. Those attending are required to wear a mask as per regulations.
