Margaret Clementi
October 9, 1927 ~ April 20, 2020
Margaret Victoria Clementi, wife of the late Dr. Ken Clementi, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the age of 92. Margaret was born on October 9, 1927, in Antigua, Caribbean to Ernest and Irene Frederick. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her sister, Josephine Liddelow of England. She was a very dedicated and passionate woman throughout her life, especially in the areas of health and education to the community. Coming from a humble home, Margaret worked exceptionally hard to earn high grades and scholarships, ultimately becoming a registered nurse. This pursuit for higher learning extended well into her career in the medical field around the world in various capacities including working with the United Nations Inoculation programs. Margaret was a very active reader and lifelong learner. She and her husband owned hundreds and hundreds of books in their own private library which she absolutely loved. She truly enjoyed sitting down for a visit and having a good intellectual conversation. Margaret was a phenomenal baker and had a green thumb which resulted in bountiful vegetable and flower gardens. She was very dedicated to the support of children’s charities. The three that were very important to her and will be Margaret’s lasting legacy are Leprosy Mission Canada, Operation Eyesight Canada and Operation Smile Canada Foundation. Margaret will be so very much missed by all those who knew her. She had a very kind soul and an absolutely infectious giggle. She touched so many hearts without even knowing it. Margaret’s life will be honoured and her memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal service.
