It is with saddened hearts that the family of Edward James Berger announce his passing in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Valerie; daughter, Crystal (Aaron); sons, BJ, Brad (Jessie) and Mike; granddaughter, Mykayla; grandsons, Braxton and Bentley; three brothers and three sisters as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Maureen.
Ed was born on July 13, 1955, in Calgary. He will be lovingly remembered as a man whose greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family. His days were often filled with the laughter and energy of his grandchildren, whom he adored and was incredibly proud of. Whether it was sharing stories, watching them grow or simply spending time together, those moments meant everything to him.
Ed was also devoted to his loyal dogs, Zena, Cody and Mia who were constant companions and brought him endless comfort and happiness.
Ed had a lifelong love for wrestling and could often be found watching matches or talking about his favourite wrestlers.
Cars were another passion of his and he always enjoyed conversations about engines, models and anything on four wheels.
Ed truly appreciated the simple pleasures in life, especially being outdoors.
He will be remembered for his love of family and the warmth he brought to those around him.
A private time of remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 100, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2N 1Z6.
