Edna Pierce
1934 – 2021
Our mom, Edna Pierce of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 17, 2021. She was nearly 87 years old. Edna was born at home to Pate and Elda Rader in Alabama. She grew up in a close-knit family with nine siblings. At age 19, she met the love of her life and they were married three months later. They moved from Alabama to Colorado, and later to Arkansas which led to Kentucky. In the late 1960’s, they decided to immigrate to Alberta, Canada with their four children. Later Mom went to work as a department store sales associate and then as a cash office clerk. While she enjoyed cooking southern food, sewing, camping and gardening; her family (including pets) were the most important thing in her life. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Loren; sons, John and Mark as well as daughters-in-law, Shirley and Cathy. She is survived by her two daughters: Margaret (Glen) and Elizabeth (Bob); grandchildren, Kevin, Israel, Donavan (Caroline), Vanessa (Bryce), Kevin (Keara), Cameron (Martie), Sarah (Aaron) and Joel; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty, sisters-in-law Elizabeth, Joann, and Gayle as well as her brothers-in-law, Don (Elizabeth) and Jimmy (Janette).
