It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Douglas Pettapiece announces his passing at the age of 81 years. Douglas was born on January 8, 1940 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Redcliff. Doug grew up in Saskatchewan with his mother and two older brothers in the Big River area. He was always surrounded by his cousins and had a special bond with his one cousin, Gary… they grew up like brothers! His memory will be cherished by his daughters, Shari (Mark) Bowey of Redcliff, Leslie (David) Smith of Lethbridge and Kathy Ganyo; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his children from his first marriage, Karen, Jerry and Tracey. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street SW, Medicine Hat on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Masks are mandatory and as per Covid restrictions, indoor gatherings will be limited to 50 people. Doug’s life will be honoured with a Graveside Service at the Redcliff Cemetery on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. with Murray Jaster officiating. Covid restrictions allow for up to 200 people for outdoor events.
