1940 – 2021
Dennis William Carpenter passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Bessie Marie; daughters, Denise and Heidi Carpenter; stepsons, Charles and Kenneth Harlton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Lorne (Sylvia) Carpenter (and their family, Carol George and Maxime Meadows and their children) as well as his sister-in-law, Marlene Cormier. Dennis served for 43 years as an officer and leader in the Canadian Armed Forces and continued to bring his passion for leadership to the Cold Lake Air Cadet Summer Training Centre where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. For many years, Dennis proudly served the Canadian Air Force in Canada and Europe. He had a passion for hockey and continued to be active throughout his life with skiing, curling and bowling. His kindness for those around him extended to his beloved dogs and cats and those of his children. Dennis was loved, respected and admired by the many people he touched along the way. He always had time for his family and a kind ear for all those who were lucky enough to know him. A memorial celebration to honour Dennis will be held at a later date.
