MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Mavericks will be without one of their veterans following an injury Monday evening.

Julien Ly was injured in the sixth inning of Monday’s home game against the Lethbridge Bulls after colliding with fellow outfielder John Velasco.

Ly was trying to catch a fly ball when the collision occurred. Both players were shaken up, though Velasco was able to walk off the field. Ly needed assistance from two Mavericks teammates.

Both players did not return to the game. Ly is currently being treated for a lower body injury in Medicine Hat and the Mavericks are not certain he’ll join them on their six game road trip.

Velasco is back in the lineup for the Mavericks tonight, sporting a black eye from the collision.

The Mavericks play the Edmonton Prospects in the first game of a six game road trip on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.
