Full scale emergency exercise underway in city Wednesday

MEDICINE HAT, AB — If you see multiple emergency vehicles at the Canalta Centre on Wednesday, there is no need to be alarmed.

Emergency officials will be running a full-scale emergency exercise from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Canalta Centre, with the goal of evaluating and practising emergency preparedness.

Fire Services, the Medicine Hat Police Service, Alberta Health Services and other organizations will be involved.

The city says all services, including the hospital and all emergency services, will be fully operational while the training exercise is underway.

Notice boards will be displayed around the outside of the Canalta Centre, asking the public to avoid the area while the exercise is underway. There will be no road closures or diversions.

All businesses in the Box Spring Business Park will be open while the exercise is ongoing.
