Wild Horse border crossing to open for extended hours starting Wednesday

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Wild Horse Border Crossing will be opening for its extended hours this week, just in time for the long weekend.

Starting on Wednesday, the border crossing, which connects Medicine Hat to Havre, Montana, will run on its extended hours from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.

The extended hours will be in place until September 30. On October 1, it reverts to 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Canada Border Services Agency also announced the Chief Mountain port of entry, located on Highway 6 in Waterton Lakes National Park, will open for the summer season on May 15.

From May 15-31, the crossing will be open from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., but will be open from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. from June 1- September 2. The crossing returns to 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. hours from September 3 to 30th, before closing for the season.

According to a release from the CBSA, more than 68,000 travellers passed through the Chief Mountain crossing last year, and they’re expecting the season to be busy.
