Medicine Hat JazzFest returns for 23rd year in June

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat JazzFest announced its lineup for its 23rd year on Thursday.

The festival will run from June 23 to 30, will feature multiple performances throughout the city, with multiple performances at the Esplanade.

Among acts performing at the Esplanade are Laila Biali, who recently won the Juno Award for vocal jazz album of the year, Michael Kaeshammer, a piano player who has performed in Medicine Hat multiple times and the Shuffle Demons, a Canadian jazz fusion group who had hits in the 1980s.

Also performing at the festival are Montreal singer Elizabeth Shepherd, Bellflower and Benjamin Deschamps.

Cuban musician Wil Campa, a festival favourite, will be performing a concert at the Super T Aviation hangar on June 27 at 7:30 p.m.

The free parkade show, held at the Transit Parkade downtown, returns June 29. Rock band Punch Drunk Cabaret and local group the Hip Katz will be playing at 6:30 p.m.
