UCT High School Baseball Tournament underway

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Local teams were in action Thursday night during the first day of the UCT High School Baseball Tournament.

The Crescent Heights High School Vikings, the Eagle Butte High School Talons and the Medicine Hat High School Mohawks hit the diamond on Thursday, playing their first games in the tournament. The Monsignor McCoy High School Colts play Friday afternoon.

Eagle Butte High School played twice Thursday, losing their first game 11-5 to the Vikings, but rallying in their second game to top the Notre Dame Hounds 8-6.

Carter Krauss finished the second game with two runs, two hits and one RBI, while Tyler Bang and Hunter Hankel each had two RBI through the game. Winning pitcher Parker Starner allowed two hits, eight walks and six runs, while striking out five batters.

The Mohawks were downed 10-4 by the Cranbrook Bandits Thursday evening. During the game, the Mohawks combined for seven hits, according to the box score.

A total of 10 teams are competing in the tournament, which wraps up Saturday afternoon.
