Rock the Rink tour coming to Canalta Centre in October

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Some of the top figure skaters in Canada will be returning to Medicine Hat this fall.

The Rock the Rink tour, featuring Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Elvis Stojko, was announced on Tuesday, and will be making a stop at the Canalta Centre on October 19.

The skaters were part of the Thank You Canada tour, which stopped in Medicine Hat this past October.

According to a release from the organization, the tour has received upgrades to the lighting, video and interactive technology, and will also incorporate live music from Birds of Bellwoods.

In addition to the Canadian skaters, the tour is also bringing in skaters from Europe and the United States. Italian skater Carolina Kostner, who won the Bronze Medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and is a former World Champion, will be on the tour, along with World Champion ice dancers Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte, also from Italy. This will be the first North American tour for all three skaters, according to the release.

American skater Jeremy Abbott, who also won Bronze at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, will also be on the tour, making his first tour of Canada in seven years, the release says. 

Tickets for the show go on sale May 3 at the Canalta Centre box office or ticketmaster.ca.
