Maple Creek receives funding for wastewater infrastructure

MAPLE CREEK, SASK. — The Town of Maple Creek is receiving federal and provincial funding for wastewater infrastructure upgrades.

The announcement was made Tuesday morning, and sees eight projects across Saskatchewan receive more than $27.3 million from both levels of government.

Maple Creek will receive $5,940,000 for wastewater treatment upgrades, according to a release from the provincial government.

“The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to be investing more than $27.3 million toward these important water and wastewater infrastructure projects that strengthen our communities for the future, protect our environment and help keep our great province strong,” said Warren Kaeding, Government Relations Minister for Saskatchewan, in a news release.

“Modern water and wastewater infrastructure is essential to safeguarding the well-being of Canadian families and building the Canada we want for tomorrow,” said Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, in a statement.  “Our government has ramped up new investments in Saskatchewan communities’ water and wastewater systems that will help protect the environment, keep people healthy, and bolster economic growth.”

Other communities receiving funding include Blaine Lake, Kindersley, Martensville, Yorkton, Lloydminster, Melfort and North Battleford.
