MEDICINE HAT, AB — The SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers playoff run came to an abrupt halt on Tuesday, falling to the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 at the Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre.

The Rebels are moving onto the AMBHL’s South Division Finals while the Tigers are heading into the off-season.

Although it’s difficult to accept defeat, the team is praising their work ethic and tenacity for helping create one of the strongest bantam programs in recent history.

Capping the year with a 13-15-5 record to finish third in the Ram South standings, the Tigers swept the second place Okotoks Oilers in the opening round to advance to the division semis.

It’s the first time the local major bantam squad reached the second round since 2013 when they earned an automatic berth for finishing first in the division.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports spoke with captain Vann Yuhas and head coach Jason Bartram following the game to hear their thoughts on the season that was, and how Red Deer was able to gain a slight edge over SEAC.
