MEDICINE HAT, AB — The NDP has its candidate for Brooks-Medicine Hat.

Lynn MacWilliam was acclaimed as the candidate for the riding on Saturday during a nomination meeting at Medicine Hat College.

MacWilliam is a councillor for the Town of Bassano, though she will be taking a leave of absence from her duties to stand as the candidate.

MacWilliam ran for the NDP in the Strathmore-Brooks riding in the 2015 election, finishing in third place. She also stood for the federal NDP in the 2015 election in the Bow River riding, also finishing in third place.

With MacWilliam’s candidacy, there are now three candidates in the Brooks-Medicine Hat riding ahead of the election, which has not yet been called.

Michaela Glasgo is the nominee for the United Conservative Party, while Jim Black will be representing the Alberta Party.

CHAT News has reached out to MacWilliam for an interview.
