MEDICINE HAT, AB — Things just got a little ‘muddier’ at the U16A Ringette Alberta Provincial Championships in Calgary.

The Medicine Hat Mud Hens are one step closer to clinching a provincial title, opening the tournament with a 4-2 victory over the St. Albert Saints on Friday morning.

The local girls’ squad comes into the weekend as one of Alberta’s hottest ringette teams, boasting an intimidating 15-0-1 record through the regular season.

Much of their success comes from their chemistry with one another. Many players for the Mud Hens have been playing with one another for upwards of a decade.

Combine that with an aggressive practice regime and elite-level skating clinics and the result speaks for itself, says head coach Marty Robinson.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports caught up with forwards Kylie Kallenberger and Bree Becker to learn more about what fuels the Mud Hens success. Plus, Robinson discusses what will challenge his players the most as they begin their quest for a provincial banner.

The Mud Hens return to action Saturday morning, taking on the BowView Surge at 10:50 a.m.
