Overagers take ‘lead by example’ approach to curb losing streak

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Linus Nassen has gone through his fair share of losing streaks.

He knows the emotions that can take a toll on a players confidence, and how difficult it can be to get it back.

The overage defenceman for the Medicine Hat Tigers is using this to his advantage to help motivate his younger teammates to get out of their cold snap.

Medicine Hat has lost six straight, their longest losing streak of the season, and it comes at arguably the worst time of the season.

They’ve watched their comfortable divisional playoff spot shrink into an unstable wild-card position. Brandon and Red Deer are nipping at their heals, sitting two points back with one extra game remaining.

In the midst of a six-day break, Nassen says it’ll give the crew a good chance to rest up and clear their minds. That’s something he says is important in order to curb a lengthy losing skid.

CHAT TV’s Mitch Bach caught up with Nassen to hear how he’s helping the younger players get back their confidence. Plus, overage defenceman Dylan MacPherson discusses the level of energy they need to bring to practice this week, and assistant coach Joe Frazer and overager Ryan Jevne shed light on the recent injury woes the team is facing.
