Stampede announces 2019 night show lineup

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The night shows at this year’s Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede include a pair of top Canadian Country artists, two classic country bands, and members of one of the most popular rock bands of the 20th century.

Organizers revealed the night show lineup for the 2019 event, which runs from July 24-27.

On July 24, Brett Kissel and the Hunter Brothers will take the stage. The concert begins at 8 p.m.

On July 25, the Stampede will be welcoming country bands Blackhawk and Restless Heart at 9 p.m.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited, which includes original Creedence Clearwater Revival members Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, will close out the Stampede on July 27. They will take the stage at 9 p.m.

Marni Elliott chairs the Stampede’s night show committee, and says they’re hoping there’s something for everybody to enjoy this year.

“We tried really hard to make sure we have a wide variety of music that comes,” she said. “We usually do something with the newer country. We do like the classics, we know the audience loves those bands, and as well, we try to do something more into the rock.”

For the second year in a row, the night show lineup was announced after the Christmas break. Elliott says “routing” are the reason for the late announcement.

“They want to make sure where they’re going makes sense to them,” she said. “They don’t want to zigzag from side to side of the country, and lots of times, those routes aren’t being put together before Christmas, so we’re kind of at their mercy to fit in where they can fit us, and that means waiting. If we want good entertainment, sometimes it’s better to wait.”

A ticket package for all three night shows goes on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. It costs $134, and includes gate admission to the Stampede.

Tickets can be purchased at the Medicine Hat Mall, the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede office or online at www.mhstampede.com.

Individual tickets for all three night shows will go on sale in April.
