BROOKS, AB — A 25-year-old man from Brooks is facing numerous charges, including sexual assault and making child pornography, following an investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team.

Eric Manysiak was arrested on February 14 by members of the Brooks RCMP and Medicine Hat Police Service, and computers and other electronics were seized. According to ALERT, he was being investigated on charges of uploading child pornography, however, following a preliminary screening of his cellphone, evidence of alleged sexual assaults was discovered.

The Internet Child Exploitation Unit alleges Manysiak sexually assaulted two young boys, and they have not ruled out the possibility of more victims. A full forensic analysis is being conducted on the computers and the cellphone.

The investigation began in September 2018.

According to a release, Manysiak advertised himself as a provider of respite care services in Brooks and Medicine Hat, and was also involved in a number of community youth programs.

Manysiak has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference. He has also been charged with invitation to sexual touching, making child pornography, distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
