Applications for Open Farm Days 2019 available

EDMONTON, AB — The province is now accepting applications for farms and ranches looking to host Open Farm Days events this summer.
This year, Open Farm Days is scheduled for August 17-18. The event, which will be marking its seventh year this summer, sees farms and ranches opening their doors to the public, hosting tours and culinary events.
“The event helps farmers meet new customers, share their story and grow their businesses,” said Ricardo Miranda, Minister of Culture and Tourism, in a statement. “It’s also a fun and educational way for Albertans and visitors to take in Alberta’s ag-tourism experiences and learn more about where their food comes from.”
According to the province, last year’s Open Farm Days saw 117 farms and ranches participate, up from 101 in 2017. A total of 23,543 Albertans visited the farms and ranches last year, up from 20,129 in 2017.
