MEDICINE HAT, AB – Everything seems to be going the way of the Medicine Hat Midget AA Hounds hockey club, as they continue to tear through the South Central Alberta Hockey League.

Taking down the visiting CBHA Rangers out of Calgary by a 4-0 score on Saturday, the Hounds are undefeated in their last 17 games and have gone 14-0-3 since November 18.

A big part of that success has been the Hounds goaltending, with 18-year-old Teron Funk registering his third shutout of the season in Saturday’s victory.

Brought into the fold midway through October, Funk has been exceptional for the Hounds on their win streak as he’s 11-1-0 on the year with a 1.65 goals against average and a 0.930 save percentage.

Trailing only Funk in the goals against category is his teammate Nate Hoffman, who is 13-8-2 in 13 games with Medicine Hat this season.

Scoring hasn’t been much of an issue for the 19-4-4 Hounds squad either, as Brandon Kasdorf and Ryley Manz are both sitting top three in league scoring with 41 and 40 points, respectively.

Eight games remain on the Hounds regular season schedule, as their sights are set on getting to the SCAHL finals after falling one game short last year.

CHAT Sports spoke to Funk, Kasdorf, and head coach Randy Wong following Saturday’s game about the team’s lengthy undefeated streak and expectations down the stretch drive of the season.
