MEDICINE HAT, AB – 2019 hasn’t gotten off to a good start for the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers, as they lost their sixth straight contest on Friday since the calendar flipped over.

The Tigers saw a 2-0 lead evaporate late in the first period against the visiting Okotoks AAA Oilers, dropping a 5-3 decision at the Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre.

Medicine Hat captain Vann Yuhas opened the scoring eight minutes into the first period, which was followed up just 30 seconds later with a goal from Dawson Seitz to put the Tigers ahead by a pair.

Okotoks cut that deficit in half with 6:58 left in the period from Conyr Hellyer, before Hayden Pakkala beat out the buzzer with the tying goal with 34 seconds left on the clock.

Tied 2-2 early in the second period, Okotoks’ Aidan McArthur scored on the Tigers shorthanded 46 seconds into the middle frame to give the Oilers their first lead.

They added another goal from Pakkala before the end of the second, taking a 4-2 lead over SEAC into the final 20 minutes.

Oilers forward Ty McRuvie added another goal for the visitors six minutes into the third period to make it a 5-2 game, however it was Dayden Collier pulling the Tigers back to within a pair of goals with his power play marker with 8:51 left.

Okotoks netminder Rhett Harten was able to close the door the rest of the way though, as the Tigers suffered their sixth consecutive loss.

SEAC goalie Bodee Weiss allowed five goals on 44 shots, while Collier had a goal and an assist in the loss.

Sitting in third place in the Ram South Division with an 11-11-4 record, the Bantam AAA Tigers are back at the Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre on Saturday afternoon to face the Airdrie Xtreme.

The Midget 15 Tigers are on the road this weekend, kicking off the first of two games Saturday at 4:45 pm against the Red Deer North Star Chiefs.
