MEDICINE HAT, AB — James Hamblin did it again.

The captain of the Medicine Hat Tigers led the charge with a pair of goals and an assist in a 3-1 victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday night.

It’s the 16th multi-point game of the season for the 19-year-old, who earned the game’s first star for his effort. Hamblin’s first goal, which opened the scoring in the second period, was short-handed.

Hamblin, who leads the Tigers with 55 points and a +24 rating, also picked up a pair of points and the shootout winner in a last-minute comeback victory over Edmonton on Wednesday. His two goals now has him leading the team with 25 on the season, one clear of fellow teammate Brett Kemp.

Rookie Corson Hopwo also scored for the Tigers, who are now 8-1-1-0 in their last 10 games and 25-16-2-2 this season.

Tyler Preziuso notched a pair of assists, while Trevor Longo and Linus Nassen picked up single helpers each.

Ethan O’Rourke scored the lone Broncos goal, who fall to 9-32-2-1 and sit in last place in the WHL.

Earlier this week, Medicine Hat and Swift Current were announced as hosts for the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. They’ll battle again Saturday night to wrap up a home-and-home.

The Tigers outshot the Broncos 46-24.

Riley Lamb was named the second star after making 43 saves in the loss, while Jordan Hollett turned allowed just a single goal on 24 shots. The 19-year-old net-minder has now won six of his last seven games.

Hollett will likely start Saturday’s rematch with Mads Sogaard nursing a day-to-day hip injury. Former first-round draft pick Garin Bjorklund backed up the Ottawa Senators prospect as a call-up.

Neither team was successful on the powerplay on single opportunities.

The puck drops from the Canalta Centre at 7:30 p.m. between these two teams.

*An earlier version of this write-up credited James Hamblin with one goal. The Western Hockey League has since given credit to Hamblin with scoring the Tigers third goal, which was originally given as Trevor Longo’s goal.
