Police arrest man after multiple vehicles vandalized

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat police have arrested a man after multiple vehicles had their windows and mirrors smashed in the Chinook Drive area.

Officers responded to First Street and Chinook Drive Southwest at 3:45 p.m. on Monday after receiving complaints of an adult male allegedly smashing out the windows and mirrors of parked vehicles.

When police arrived, the suspect fled on foot for a short distance, but was apprehended while trying to ascend a stairwell off Chinook Drive.

Police allege the suspect, who cannot be named until charges are sworn before the court, is responsible for causing damage to 14 vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing, and police remain on scene.
