Police asking for help to identify suspect in break and enter

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Police Service has released a video in their investigation into the theft of donations raised at the Linden Cup Christmas Classic, and are asking residents to help identify a suspect.

On Wednesday at 3:26 p.m., officers respond to the report of an intrusion alarm at a home on Calder Crescent Southeast. When they arrived, they, along with the owner, were able to determine a cash box containing funds raised at the charity hockey tournament on November 24 were stolen.

The money was to be donated to the Medicine Hat and District Food Bank and the local chapter of Kidsport.

On Friday, police released a surveillance video from the area at the time of the robbery.

The video shows a person walking in the alley in the first 15 seconds, before disappearing off frame. In the final 12 seconds, the same person is seen running away in the opposite direction.

The suspect is wearing black pants and a white Team Canada jersey, along with a toque and their face is covered with a light covered scarf.
