MEDICINE HAT, AB — The defence lawyer for a former member of the Medicine Hat Police Commission has received disclosure and the case has been adjourned until the new year.

Rolf Traichel was charged with fraud over $5,000, money laundering and possession of stolen property in August.

It’s alleged he defrauded the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education out of more than $1,000,000 between 2010 and 2016.

Traichel served on the police commission from January 2012 to December 2017.

The matter was reported to police in January of this year.

On Tuesday, lawyer’s asked that the matter be put over until February, in order to give defence time to read the 2,600 pages of disclosure.

The case is expected back in court on February 7th, 2019.
