Bisons down Cubs 9-0

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs were on the wrong end of a blowout on Sunday.

One day after dominating the Three Hills Thrashers 13-0, the Cubs were blanked 9-0 by the Okotoks Bisons at the Murray Arena.

Brandt Black had a hat trick and one assist during the game, with Mitch Wolfe, Travis Scott, Nicholas Murrell, Evan Woods, Devyn Stewart and Luc Thorimbert adding the remaining goals for the Bisons.

Both teams racked up penalties through the game. According to the game sheet, the Cubs had 107 penalty minutes during the game, while the Bisons had 79 penalty minutes.

The Cubs were outshot 53-37.

Goaltender Devin Regan stopped all 37 shots he faced.

Both Cubs goaltenders saw action during the game. Brett Vanderveer  made 15 saves, while backup Riley Tucker made 29 saves.

The Cubs return to action on Saturday, hosting the High Rivers Flyers at the Kinplex. The puck drops at 7:45 p.m.
